Because of poor posture and the repetitive, one-sided nature of the golf swing, over time certain muscles within the body get shorter and tighter. These shortened muscles hold the body in a restricted position decreasing the ability of the body to swing the golf club freely.

For example tight pectoral muscles on the chest pull the shoulders forward limiting the ability to rotate in the backswing resulting in decreased stability at the top of the swing, reduced striking distance, and an increased risk of injury.

“Flexibility is the foundation of physical ability in golf.”

The golf swing is a complex chain of movements. If one link in the chain has insufficient movement or strength then compensations must be made elsewhere in the body.  The consequences of these weak links to the golf swing are:

  • Altered swing path and ball flight
  • Inconsistency
  • Reduced power and distance
  • Injury

At physioflex we offer a variety of treatment services to the golfer from injury rehabilitation and musculoskeletal profiling to strength and conditioning classes for golfers of all levels.

The conditioning classes are specifically tailored to the golfer using the latest techniques to develop core strengthening and increased flexibility enabling the golfer to achieve their maximum potential from the game of golf.

Golf Conditioning Classes: What do you gain?

  • Improved strength and flexibility around the spine to alleviate back pain
  • Greater strength and power resulting in increased ball striking distance
  • Improved ability to turn in the golf swing
  • Reduced risk of injury
  • Better balance throughout the swing
  • Improved timing and co-ordination
  • Better concentration skills on the course
  • Improved breathing technique resulting in increased energy levels
  • Improved rehabilitation post injury
